The Best entry level LG TV
LG UM6900

The LG UM6900 is the companies’ entry level model into the world of 4K. It does not focus on high quality technical features, but more so on a solid picture quality. In order to achieve this, LG uses an IPS panel with 60 Hz, which makes for known advantages and disadvantages. You should know, however, that the UM6900 does not offer “true” 4K due to its RGBW pixel structure – which, on the other hand, makes it very affordable.

On one hand, the viewing angle is very wide, which means that luminosity and brightness of the colors are not lost when viewed from the side. This is in contrast with VA panels. Also, it can become relatively bright and has good reflection handling. It is very suitable for gaming with several people as the input lag is very low. On the other hand, the UM6900’s performance in a dark environment is a bit lackluster. IPS panels have a hard time displaying very deep blacks, which is why dark areas appear with a tint of grey on the screen. Accordingly, HDR content looks better on other screens.

The LG UM6900 has very good Smart features. The operating system LG webOS 4.5 offers a vast amount of apps that all run smoothly. Classics such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video are preinstalled and can easily be accessed by using the hotkey on the included remote. Voice control is enabled by Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Best mid range LG TV
LG SM8600

The LG SM8600 is part of the famed LG NanoCell line-up. It is a midrange model but since if has some tricks up its sleeve, it belongs to the best LG TVs.

It also uses an IPS panel which provides the same features as for the UM7300: Wide viewing angle, good peak brightness and good reflection handling. Despite offering Local Dimming – called LG NanoCell Black – the dark room performance is somewhat poor. Without surrounding light, the picture looks a bit greyish. For these reasons, HDR looks better on other TVs. Due to the NanoCell technology, however, the contrast is somewhat stronger and the color space wider than with the UM7300.

Because of its good motion handling thanks to the 120 Hz panel, it is well suited for gaming and sports. Fast paced content is displayed without motion blur, which is very easy on the eye.

Compared to the more affordable UM7300, the SM8600 supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The dynamic formats enable great cinema experiences at home – when using the right equipment. It also comes with LG’s intuitive Magic Remote.

The Best High End OLED LG TV
LG C9

The LG C9 is one of the most impressive TVs currently on the market. The OLED TV offers all the advantages of this innovative technology: perfect blacks, infinite contrast and an extremely wide viewing angle. But the C9 can do a lot more: it features HDMI 2.1 and is therefore currently one of the most technologically advanced TVs on the market.

This HDMI input standard enables data transfers of up to 48 Gbits! For example, it enables uncompressed Dolby Atmos via HDMI eARC, which is particularly interesting for home cinema or 4K at 120 Hz for the upcoming consoles Playstation 5, Xbox Project Scarlett and Google Stadia. It is already an excellent choice for demanding gaming: HDMI Forum VRR and Auto Low Latency Mode ensure high quality gaming without tearing, even with high graphics.

With this LG TV you get a future-proof investment that already unfolds the full potential of gaming, movies and streaming.

Update September 2019: LG Electronics has announced that the LG C9 and E9 will also be capable of Nvidia G-Sync in the near future. This way VRR for gaming without tearing is also possible with Nvidia graphics cards.
