Interesting facts about the Fast and Furious movie order

• Although the storyline breaks many boundaries today, Fast & Furious is not a purely fictional work. Dominic Toretto was modeled on Rafel Estevez, a Puerto Rican who made a name for himself in the New York drag race scene in the early 1990s.
• The title for the first part was originally supposed to be “Redline“. Producer Neal H. Moritz decided against it, as he found the name too bland. In the end, the series was named after the 1955 film “The Fast and the Furious” by Roger Corman.
• Part one is considered an unofficial remake of Point Break with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. A direct reference to this is the diner where Dom and Brian meet.
• Originally, “Slim Shady” aka Eminem was intended for Paul Walker’s role of police officer Brian. Whether the US rapper would have filled the character with the same effect remains to be seen.
• At the beginning of filming, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster did not have a car driver’s license, although the actresses in the films are considered experienced drivers. For insurance reasons, both were eventually given a crash course.
• Paul Walker was a car enthusiast himself and brought his private passion for Japanese cars into the films. In the opening film of “The Fast and The Furious“, for example, the now world-famous orange Toyota Supra MK4 was used. In “2 Fast 2 Furious“, a tuned model of the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R was added – and many more followed.
• The cars fetched considerable prices at auctions. For example, the orange Supra – built by Eddie Paul – was auctioned off for $550,000 in 2021. The blue Nissan Skyline from part four changed hands for around $1,200,000.

• The sound department invested an enormous amount of work in the sound of the film. For the first race alone, 15,000 sound effects were created.
• The original version of the first film received an R rating in the US, but was downgraded to a PG-13 rating after editing.
• In addition to the main series and the spin-offs, two short films were released under the titles “Turbo-Charged Prelude” and “Los Bandoleros“. In terms of content, these productions are set between the first two parts and the second and fourth films and shed light on the connections between the storylines.
• During the filming of the first movie, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez were also in love in real life. However, the relationship did not last too long.
• Chris Hemworth’s wife Elsa Pataky plays the policewoman Elena from Rio de Janeiro in several spin-offs, starting with “Fast Five“.
• “Fast & Furious 6″ was originally supposed to be the end of the franchise and be split into two parts, “The Fast” and “The Furious“. Producer Justin Lin also came up with a suitable ending for this.
• After Paul Walker died in a tragic traffic accident with racing driver Roger Rodas in 2013, filming for the seventh part was paused and the ending adjusted. As a result, the end of part seven is not as happy as originally conceived.
• Paul Walker’s younger brothers Cody and Caleb helped with the completion of “Furious 7” after his death and filmed the missing scenes as Brian O’Conner. The visual differences were reworked accordingly using computer effects.

Truck robberies by a gang using tuned cars are on the rise in Los Angeles. The police suspect Dominic and his group, who organize illegal street races on the side. In order to gather evidence, undercover agent Brian is brought in, who not only falls in love with Dominic’s sister, but also immerses himself in the world of street racing.

After having his driver’s license and badge revoked due to questionable methods used to infiltrate the illegal racing scene, police officer Brian O’Conner gets a second chance. Together with undercover agent Monica, O’Connor is to investigate a suspicious businessman in Miami who is involved in shady dealings and has a penchant for risky car racing.

Dominic Toretto continues his life in the Dominican Republic. Toretto keeps his head above water with spectacular robberies. But when a murder case brings him and his old rival Brian O’Conner back together in Los Angeles, the two must join forces to confront a powerful drug cartel. Their battle ranges from breathtaking street races in L.A. to dangerous chases through the Mexican desert.

Brian and Mia free Dom and flee across several border crossings to escape their constant pursuit. Once they arrive in Rio, our friends are faced with one last coup to secure their freedom once and for all. However, this requires a team of top riders. Finally, a corrupt businessman is to be given the appropriate thrashing. But the relentless federal agent Luke Hobbs is also hot on their heels.

After the successful robbery in Rio, Dominic Toretto and his crew are scattered all over the world. Rich, but still not free, they all lead a life in hiding. Meanwhile, FBI agent Luke Hobbs is hunting a dangerous group of mercenaries led by Owen Shaw, supported by Dom’s supposedly deceased love Letty. To stop Shaw, Hobbs asks Dom for help in return for the promise of impunity for himself and his team.

After the crew gets rid of Owen Shaw, his brother Deckard Shaw plots revenge on Dominic Toretto and his team. At the same time, the crew is tasked by a mysterious agent to recover a powerful surveillance tool called “The Eye of God” and rescue developer Ramsey. The mission forces the team behind the wheel once again, where the group is pitted not only against human opponents, but also against the laws of physics.

While Dom and Letty are enjoying their honeymoon and the rest of the crew are enjoying a seemingly normal life, a mysterious woman forces Dom to betray his family and return to crime. The crew must face new challenges across the globe, from Cuba to New York to the Arctic Barents Sea, to prevent worldwide anarchy and reunite their family.

Dom must confront his estranged brother Jakob, a dangerous contract killer who has allied himself with the cyber terrorist Cipher. Just when the situation seems hopeless, Dom receives unexpected help from his friend Han, who he thought was dead. Together with his crew, Dom takes the reins and sets out to stop the global conspiracy led by Jakob and Cipher.

A new threat faces Dominic Toretto. Dante is bent on revenge and aims to wipe out his family. The situation intensifies as old and new allies, including Deckard Shaw, Jakob and Tess, are drawn into the fray. Together, the crew face the danger posed by Dante, Cipher and Aimes.

Plot of the F&F spin-offs and short films

Brian O’Conner flees Los Angeles to avoid imminent arrest by the police for aiding Dominic Toretto’s escape. While the FBI searches for him nationwide, O’Connor crosses several US states and repeatedly takes part in illegal street races in order to keep his head above water. His path finally leads him – along with his heavily modified car – to Miami in south-east Florida.

In the Dominican Republic, Dominic plans to free a friend from prison and steal some oil. After the successful breakout, the group meets with a corrupt politician to coordinate the heist in more detail. The arrival of Dominic’s girlfriend Letty brings an unexpected twist as the two rekindle their relationship on the beach.

Sean finds himself in the drift racing scene in Tokyo after the young man had to flee the USA to escape juvenile detention. There, the car enthusiast meets Twinkie, who introduces him to the world of drifting. He soon attracts the attention of D.K., the king of this scene. In order to assert himself, Sean has to become a drifting champion as quickly as possible. Han, an experienced drifter, offers him support and helps him to improve his skills.

Agent Luke Hobbs and ex-soldier Deckard Shaw must face off against the genetically enhanced terrorist Brixton, despite their differences. The two are forced to join forces when Brixton appears to be an unstoppable threat. The duo also get support from Deckard’s sister Hattie, a rogue MI6 agent who is also a target of Brixton.

Fast & Furious animated series

Fast & Furious Spy Racers is an animated Netflix Original series based on the action series of the same name. The series follows Tony Toretto, the cousin of main protagonist Dominic Toretto from the real-life films. Tony and his clique are recruited by a government organization to infiltrate an elite racing league that serves as a front for a criminal organization called SH1FT3R.

Over the course of the series, Tony and his team take part in undercover missions around the globe to get in the way of various villains and their plans for world domination. Although the series is part of the official canon of the franchise, it has not yet been precisely timed. However, as Dom has a business relationship with Mr. Nobody in the plot, the series can be set after The Fate of the Furious at the earliest.
