Disney Plus promises customers a special mix of nostalgia and modern entertainment that is suitable for all age groups, brings exclusive content directly to your home and provides family-friendly entertainment. The service is also widely available across various devices. Everything is now available at no extra fee. In order to really shed light on the streaming service ‘s offering, we have come up with the following topics and, of course, provided you with the relevant information straight away.

Disney Plus: How can I register?

If you don’t yet have a Disney Plus subscription but would like to try out the streaming service, you can start a subscription directly on the homepage. You can choose to subscribe for one month or for the whole year.

Click on the “Register now” button and enter a valid email address to proceed to the actual registration process. Further details such as payment information and, of course, a password are required in order to use the service. You can then log in using the “Log in” button on the homepage.

How much is Disney Plus? Current subscription costs

After the company has already made several adjustments in recent years, a monthly subscription to the streaming service will now cost you as a new customer at least $7.99 including ads. However, these interruptions can be particularly disruptive during exciting or action-packed scenes and take you out of the action abruptly. You can even suddenly see ads in the middle of a sentence. According to Disney, however, this is currently no more than four minutes of consumer information per hour.

The second option you have is to book the Premium package for $13.99. Should you decide to go for an entire year straight away, you can save some money. With this you currently pay almost $28 less and therefore get two months for free. After the twelve month period has expired, the service is automatically extended by a further month at the respective subscription price, unless you have canceled beforehand.

Please note: Cancellation at the end of the month is only possible when taking out a monthly subscription. This means that an annual subscription can be terminated at the earliest at the end of the minimum term. However, it is not a problem to formally cancel on the same day.

Try Disney for free?

At the market launch, Disney offered a 7-day trial period with unlimited access to all library functions and content. However, this offer was only valid in conjunction with a previously booked full monthly or annual package.

At the time of writing, we are unable to say whether and to what extent a possible trial subscription will be offered again. We therefore recommend that newcomers initially start with the cheapest advertising model for $7.99 per month.

What subscription models does Disney Plus offer?

Pay Disney Plus costs: All payment methods

To complete the registration process, Disney will ask you to enter a valid payment method. Depending on your device, there is a wide choice at this point, including PayPal, a payment method that is commonly used today. If you don’t have a corresponding account, you can get access to the platform free of charge and quite easily.

Once you have created an account and entered the payment method, Disney will immediately receive the required amount and activate access to the booked content and functions. Finally, the amount will be debited from your bank account within a few days. If you don’t want to use this option, you can alternatively use several credit card companies including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Additional options are available if you book via your smartphone. Depending on the brand, you can pay the required amount either directly via the App Store – for Apple – or in the Google Play Store – for Android models. Direct debit or direct bank transfer are not supported. However, the streaming service now also offers booking by voucher card.

Book Disney Plus by gift card

If you don’t want to pay for your subscription online or would like to give access as a gift, you can also buy Disney Plus gift cards in exchange for cash and redeem them directly via Disney Plus. Those are available in varying amount from $25 up to $200 each. However, you won’t be able to avoid creating a profile here either. So if you haven’t created an account yet, you need to create one now at the latest in order to use the voucher.

Please note: Disney+ gift cards are not the same as subscription cards. The sale of subscription cards has been discontinued in the US. However, you can stil redeem valid physical or digital subscription cards you own. If you still have an active account, you must wait until your subscription has expired. Otherwise the code will not be accepted. This means that the time you have already paid for can only be extended retrospectively by the duration of the subscription card.

Who can use my Disney subscription? Everything about account sharing from 2024

Since streaming platforms began their success story, the topic of account sharing has also become increasingly prevalent. Why should we get two or three separate accounts when we can split the costs across one account? After all, several users can manage their favorites via individual profiles and – depending on the subscription model – stream different content at the same time.

According to Disney, this view also applies as long as everyone lives in the same household. In technical jargon, this means the entirety of the end devices that are or have been used to use your Disney account at your main private residence and are used by people who live there. The disclosure of account information – such as e-mail address and password – to persons outside this area is therefore officially prohibited.

From a business perspective, this means that the service is losing potential revenue. In order to avoid this loss in the future, the framework for this will soon change and the previously tolerated password sharing will be prevented with technical measures. Accordingly, Disney is planning to prevent access outside of one’s own place of residence for violations of this policy from summer 2024. What is particularly annoying is that use via your own mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet, will also be affected.

Set parental controls for Disney Plus

With the help of parental controls, you can not only filter inappropriate content for children from the Disney library, but also add other access restrictions to the interface. This allows you to restrict profile navigation and additionally secure setting options. The service provides you with various measures to help you make navigation safer for children.

Set up age profiles

The procedure is quite simple. First, create a new profile using the “Add profile” button. Depending on the input device, the corresponding option can be found directly on the screen interface or in the navigation bar. Once you have selected a profile picture and profile name, you can also select the“Junior mode” option – more on this in a moment. Then save the entries you have made.

To set specific age ratings, select the “Edit profiles” option in the profile overview. Under Parental controls, you will find the age rating settings. After you have entered your password, you can grant the desired rating and then save it again. Now films and series that are above the age limit are automatically removed from the start page and search results.

What is Junior Mode on Disney Plus?

The above-mentioned Junior mode is a special form of age rating and a preconfigured user interface, so to speak. Content is displayed here that is suitable for different age groups. It is therefore not possible to assign content precisely according to age once this profile function has been selected. Advertising interruptions are also eliminated.

Note: Your main profile can neither be deleted nor set to junior mode.

Parental control when changing profile

Disney Plus also offers the option of “Parental control when switching profiles“. This is intended to make it more difficult to switch between individual profiles by requiring a sequence of numbers to be entered as confirmation.

Disney Plus profile PIN

You can also ensure that your Disney profiles are secured with a four-digit PIN to prevent unauthorized access. This PIN can be changed at any time under the “Edit profiles” option.

Activate profile setup lock

Finally, the so-called “profile setup lock” prevents the creation of additional profiles within your account. Once you have activated this barrier function, the system will always ask for your password before a new profile can be created.

Where can I receive Disney?

Disney cannot be received in the traditional sense via cable, satellite or DVB-T. What content does Disney have?

Download Disney content and watch offline

If you have booked the “Premium” access, Disney gives you the option to download content in advance. This allows you to take your program with you on the go if you don’t have a reliable internet connection or want to conserve your data volume. However, you will have to accept some small restrictions at this point.

Firstly, some selected titles are excluded, and secondly, downloading is limited to a maximum of ten devices per account at . Content that is available for download is marked with an arrow. If you select this field, the data transfer to your mobile device will start. Depending on the length and scope of a series and, of course, your local Wi-Fi speed, you should allow some time for this.

Disney Plus: How many streams can I watch at the same time?

Other as with the download feature, this aspect does not depends on the subscription you have booked. In any case, you currently have four streams available that you can use synchronously.

However, keep in mind that you should have sufficient bandwidth if you want to regularly transmit multiple video streams. This is 5 Mbit/s per title for content in HD resolution and 25 Mbit/s for material in UHD resolution. This means that just two UHD streams can be enough to fully utilize a 50 Mbit line.

What advantages does Disney Plus VIP offer?

Disney Plus VIP access offered the opportunity to see a brand new movie before its regular release on Disney and at the same time as it was released in cinemas for an additional charge. You were charged 21.99 euros for each movie. In return, you could watch the title as often as you wanted.

What may initially seem like an overpriced single price per screening was actually due to the coronavirus pandemic and the fact that cinemas were regularly closed. In this way, you could at least move the experience – with all its advantages – to your home theater.

As is usual today, the titles on offer were added to the regular range a few months after their theatrical release. In the meantime, all new releases are being shown exclusively in cinemas again, as the screenings are sufficiently well attended.

How do I cancel my Disney subscription?

In general, you can cancel an existing subscription at any time. The end of the term is the decisive factor here. The advantage of a monthly subscription is that you are only tied to the streaming service for a comparatively short period of time. An annual subscription, on the other hand, is cheaper in the long term, but must be paid for in advance and will continue to run for the predetermined period of time even if you cancel. Refunds are only granted by customer service in exceptional cases.

1. Visit the Disney Plus homepage on PC or via a mobile browser
2. Scroll down on the homepage and select “Cancel subscription here“
3. Enter the email address you use for the subscription
4. Enter the 16-digit subscriber ID that Disney has assigned to you by email
5. Optional: If you can no longer see the email, you can find the ID under “Profile” > “Account” > “Subscription“
6. Confirm the process with “Cancel now“

Cancellation after registration

1. Log in to the Disney Plus homepage via PC or mobile browser
2. Select your profile and then “Account“
3. Go to “Subscription” and select “Cancel subscription“
4. You will now be asked to enter a reason for canceling and optionally take part in a survey to complete the process

After canceling, you will retain access to Disney Plus until the end of the current billing period. You should no longer receive any further charges via your payment method.

Note: As soon as Roku is selected as a payment option during registration, you can manage your account details or cancel your subscription directly via Disney .

Exceptions and right of withdrawal

Exceptions to this are bookings made using a subscription card. In this case, you do not need to do anything other than allow the booked period to expire, as there is no automatic renewal afterwards. In addition, you have the right to cancel the contract concluded with Disney within 14 days of conclusion without stating a reason. The date of conclusion of the contract is decisive here.

Please note: Removing the Disney Plus app from your smartphone, tablet or Smart TV does not automatically terminate the subscription. An official notice of termination from Disney is required in any case to fully terminate the contract with the streaming service.

How do I delete my Disney account?

If you decide to cancel your Disney subscription, you can also have your Disney account deleted completely. However, all personal information, including your e-mail address, full name and profile name and all data will be removed. In addition, all other details linked to your Disney account will be anonymized so that this information can no longer be directly linked to the email address you used.

This is how you proceed to permanently delete your account

1. Log in to Disney and select your profile
2. Go to “Account” > “Settings” > “Delete account“
3. If you are billed directly by Disney and there is no delete option, you must first cancel your subscription before you can continue
4. Optional: If you are billed by a third-party provider, you must also cancel your subscription with the relevant platform beforehand
5. Now enter your email, then the password and log in
6. Confirm the deletion after entering the verification code from the Disney email
7. Select “Delete” to complete the process

Please note: As soon as you request the deletion of your Disney account and the billing runs via an external provider, access to Disney ends immediately. Your account will be removed after a short time. Please note that you may still be charged for existing subscriptions that were not terminated before your account was deleted.
