LG OLED B2 2022

Affordable Next-Gen Gaming OLED

OLED Panel
OLED Panel

LG’s OLED B2 has once again earned the award as a price-performance tip, which the B1 from last year could already claim for itself. Despite extensive features, a gaming OLED does not have to cost disproportionately much to keep up with developments and provide features that are requested on next-gen consoles.

LG’s OLED evo C2 is the successor of the successful C1 and the big brother of the less expensive B series. The South Korean company relies on the Evo panel from the high-end class for its popular gaming series. Together with its extensive equipment, the model offers many reasons to buy.

No reflection absence at all

Even though the LG OLED B2 has a certain resistance to reflections, the panel cannot necessarily be called low-reflective. The LG OLED evo C2 has similar characteristics.

Compared to backlit LED LCD TVs, OLED TVs generally have the disadvantage that their luminance is comparatively low. The constant brightness over larger areas is particularly affected by this and makes the biggest difference here.

The expected high standard

OLED TVs are known for their excellent image reproduction, especially when viewed from the side. Color changes or weakenings of the hues practically do not occur here.

That makes this panel type an ideal choice for spending movie or sports evenings together with friends and family. Both the C2 and B2 are no exception and deliver as expected at this point.

Default format with lower quality

Since the SDR format is generally broadcasted with fewer colors and lower resolution, particularly powerful TVs cannot exploit its full potential.

Nevertheless, both TVs are able to put enough brightness on the screen to achieve small light detail peaks. In terms of power consumption, the C2 wins by a narrow margin.

Slightly better details on the C2

Although the B2 can keep up in some areas, the C2 prevails with its slightly higher peak brightness and brings out bright contours and luminous subtleties in the picture a bit more brilliantly.

Although the maximum luminance is higher, the C-series model still has a small energy-saving advantage over its smaller brother.

Basically, the panel of OLED TVs is extremely powerful when it comes to contrast. Therefore, TVs of this type are undoubtedly among the best in terms of picture performance.

Minor advantages for the C2

Basically, both TVs only differ in one point. That is the number of HDMI 2.1 ports. You will find two on the B2. You get four interfaces of this kind on the C2.

Apart from that, you get many additional features like ALLM, G-Gync compatibility, AMD FreeSync, 120 Hertz and a Game Optimizer that summarizes the most important settings in one compact screen for you. Response time and input lag are almost identical.

New name, same system

The 22-series version of WebOS is preinstalled on both TVs. LG’s very own operating system is easy to navigate and always remains pleasantly clear due to its tidy structure.

If you are looking for WiSA compatibility, you will basically find it on both TVs, but you should still pay attention to the exact model name, since not all sales variants offer this function. Same goes for the twin tuner.

You will only find remote-independent voice support via Hands-Free-Voice Control on devices from the C-series onwards. Otherwise, LG provides a recording function via USB, Apple connectivity and dual-band Wi-Fi. in the 802.11ac standard for the B2 and the 802.11ax version for the C2.

Our conclusion:
Price advantage vs popularity

Our comparison between the LG OLED B2 vs LG OLED evo C2 shows that you can have a lot of fun with both TVs and are prepared for most situations. Differences that more or less justify the higher price of the LG OLED evo C2 are there, but not huge.

That’s exactly why the B2 remains interesting even in its 2022 version and can even become a real TV steal if the right offer is available. LG provides a somewhat wider range of features and an enhanced performance in the C-series model.

However, we can only recommend both TVs to a limited extent for bright or very bright rooms with frequent sunlight. In such a case, you should rather look at devices with a backlit panel instead.
