OLED Lineup
What characterises this product line? OLED technology is one of the most advanced technologies on the market and is also present in the Philips brand. It is characterised by perfect black and theoretically infinite contrast, as the organic pixels can light up individually on their own. However, OLEDs usually cannot become as bright, which is why they unfold their great picture quality mainly in dark rooms.

OLED705 Series
The OLED705 is actually still part of the 2020 line-up, but the model first appeared at the beginning of 2021. Either way, it can convince with its values, because in addition to an OLED panel with typically excellent picture quality, the TV also has the familiar Ambilight, which can be found here on three sides of the TV. This makes it rather unsuitable for wall mounting.
Due to the theoretically infinite contrast and the perfect black, it is a good candidate especially for film and series fans. Furthermore, Dolby VisionDynamic HDR-format with a color depth of up to 12 Bits and Mastering of up to 10,000 Nits and HDR10+License-free, dynamic HDR-format in competition with Dolby Vision are available, as well as Dolby AtmosObject-based surround sound format with 3D-Sound from any direction and DTSMulti-channel-sound-system (Surround Sound) competing with Dolby Digital.
Although gamers also get their money’s worth, they have to do without an HDMI 2.1 interface and thus essential features that are needed for the new consoles.
A range of smart TV functions that make it easy to access streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are at your disposal. With built-in voice control, users can also control their smart home system and take control of other devices.

OLED805 Series
The OLED805 was already able to convince 2020 with its excellent picture quality and the 3-sided Ambilight, which gives films and series that certain something. Because that is exactly the target group of the OLED805. With a peak brightness of only ~800 nitsSI unit of luminance: 1 nit = 1 cd/m2 – The best way of measuring and comparing a TVs brightness , the TV is particularly suitable for dark rooms. This is also when the Ambilight comes into its own.
With the OLED805, you still had to decide whether you wanted a TV with Ambilight or a gaming TV. Because even though the TV is well suited for gaming, it doesn’t have an HDMI 2.1 interface, which means it doesn’t have all the features like VRRVariable Refresh Rate – synchronizes the display’s refresh rate with the output refresh rate of the graphics card for the new consoles. This also means that 4K@120fps is not possible.
Compared to the previous year, the difference is clear: the two HDMI 2.1 connections make the OLED806 better suited for gaming and especially for the new consoles. Beyond that, however, there are no major changes.

OLED935 Series
The OLED+ 935 is the first Philips TV with so-called anti-burn-in technology, which is designed to prevent the occurrence of annoying burn-in effects on an OLED panel. The UHD TV features the P5 Engine with artificial intelligence, which takes care of the optimal picture and sound processing.
Like a typical OLED TV, the housing is extremely thin in the upper area. In the lower connection area, the Ambilight TV has a much lower profile. On the back, of course, are the integrated LEDs for backlighting.
Sound is the next keyword, because below the OLED display is a 3.1.2 Bowers & Wilkins soundbar with 70 watts of continuous power. You also get Dolby AtmosObject-based surround sound format with 3D-Sound from any direction, Dolby DigitalMulti-channel-sound-system for up to 5.1 channel Surround Sound and DTS-HD.
Philips provides the soundbar base with a fabric cover, which is visually quite elegant. As an alternative to the 65-inch version, you can get a 48-inch and 55-inch version. The TV runs on Android 9.0 and comes with numerous pre-installed apps.

The One Performance
What characterises this product line? The One for Everything. This is how you could describe The One – Performance Series, because it is the all-rounder from Philips including Ambilight. It is aimed primarily at film and series fans, but with some limitations.

PUS8505 Series
The One 8505 caters to the user and is therefore a real all-rounder. Like most Philips TVs, it also has the well-known Ambilight feature, which makes the TV really catch the eye.
This is because it bathes the surroundings in the colours of the game or film, creating a great atmosphere and artificially expanding the screen.
The picture quality is okay and with a deep black and a contrast of 5000:1, HDRHigh Dynamic Range – image/video with more dynamic range (contrast range) content looks quite solid. Unfortunately, the viewing angle is quite narrow due to the VAVertical Alignment, type of LCD Panel panel, which is why you should sit directly in front of the TV.
The One 8505 is rather unsuitable for the new consoles, as it does not have HDMI 2.1 connections. Older consoles can be used, however, and adventures look very special thanks to the 3-sided Ambilight.
