Panasonic TV Lineup 2022 – Portfolio & OLED.EX

With the second generation of OLED panels, Panasonic wants to provide its customers even more performance this year. As part of the so-called Master OLED Pro series, the Japanese electronics manufacturer relies on the technology known as OLED.EX, which uses deuterium to improve luminance. We reveal which Panasonic TV models will be equipped with this technology in 2022 and what else makes the devices stand out.

OLED Lineup

What characterises this product line? With the introduction of the LZW2004 series, the brand new Master OLED Pro technology and therefore also the next generation of self-illuminating panels are used in Panasonic TVs. Thanks to the addition of deuterium, the TVs offer up to 30 percent more luminance than in the previous year, resulting in a even more impressive picture performance.

Midrange TV

LZW984 Series

Panasonic’s LZW984 is a mid-range TV that offers a comprehensive range of features. In terms of performance, the peak brightness for small parts of the picture is over 700 nits, which is already quite respectable.

However, this device is not the ideal solution for rooms flooded with light. Due to the OLED panel, of course, this TV offers the typically perfect black and is thus perfectly suited for cinema and series lovers.

Supporting this field is the wide range of HDR formats, with which practically no wish remains unfulfilled. Whether Dolby Vision IQ or HDR10+ Adaptive.

Via eARC, you also have the option of rounding off the experience appropriately in terms of sound. All in all, the Panasonic LZW984 offers impressive picture quality, versatile connection options and modern smart TV functions along with an elegant design.

Upper Midrange TV

LZW1004 Series

Although this OLED is not yet the top of the 2022 line-up, the LZW1004 is nevertheless a premium product among the upper mid-range of Panasonic’s offerings, and its master OLED panel at 120 hertz places it between the smaller LZW984 and the LZW2004 spearhead.

The optimised panel allows the LZW1004 with 820 nits to be slightly brighter. Added to this are Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+, which, based on a light sensor, can adjust the brightness of the image to the lighting conditions in the room if necessary.

Furthermore, the OLED offers excellent gaming features with low input lag and a extremely short response time. Dolby Vision Gaming is also on board. You can easily navigate through the menu structure via the familiar My Home Screen user interface in version 7.0 and have access to a wide range of apps.

Premium TV

LZW2004 Series

The Panasonic LZW2004 is an impressive TV that is equipped with the latest OLED.EX technology and has particularly high colour fidelity thanks to its expanded colour space. Due to the high luminance of over 1000 nits, HDR content is displayed with a high brilliance.

An additional major advantage of the LZW2004 is the support of Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive, which enables dynamic optimisation of HDR content. This makes the viewing experience even more intense and realistic.

On top of that, the LZW2004 offers an integrated 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos sound system with 125 watts of continuous power, which is equipped with speakers that radiate upwards and to the side.

So if you’re short on space for a big sound system at home, this top-of-the-line model offers a convenient all-in-one solution. Gaming enthusiasts are also provided with numerous features such as AMD FreeSync Premium, G-Sync compatibility and ALLM for reduced input lag.

LED Lineup

What characterises this product line? While Panasonic is excellently positioned in the OLED segment, the Japanese company restricts itself to comparatively simple panel technology for its backlit models. You will therefore not find devices with mini-LEDs here. 8K TVs are also not part of the line-up in this segment.

Entry Level TV

LXW704 Series

This TV belongs to Panasonic’s 4K entry-level league and, along with the 600 series, represents the Japanese electronics company’s basic entry into backlit TVs in 2022.

With reference to the price, you should not expect too much quality from the picture performance of the LXW704, which is rather average and does not have particularly good viewing angle stability due to the built-in VA panel.

Therefore, the TV is only suitable with restrictions for bright environments and is not one of the devices with which you can really make the most of your next-gen hardware. The lack of a 120 Hertz panel is already slowing you down at this point.

Furthermore, the Dolby package is not part of the equipment. This means you get neither Dolby Vision nor Dolby Atmos. However, cinema lovers can be happy about the integrated Filmmaker mode and the support for HDR10+ content. If necessary, you can get uncompressed sound output to your soundbar and home cinema system via the eARC connection.

Midrange TV

LXW834 Series

Compared to the 700 series, the LXW834 has a few updates to offer. In terms of picture technology, you won’t get a premium device here either – understandably – but the model provides you with local dimming for better contrast, HDR10+ Adaptive, the Dolby Vision HDR standard and is also Dolby Atmos capable.

This makes audio output using a good sound bar as an external solution or on the basis of a full-fledged home cinema system all the more worthwhile. Although the sound quality is sufficient for normal use, it reaches its limits at the latest when a powerful sound backdrop is required.

Admittedly, you cannot go beyond an output of 60 frames per second with this TV, but you are able to reduce the input delay on the controller by switching to the game mode. However, you have to do without variable picture synchronisation.

Unfortunately, the in-house My Home Screen version 7.0 is not available for navigation. Instead, Panasonic uses Android TV, which is not quite as convenient. Instead of the eARC standard – as with the smaller brother – only an ordinary ARC interface is available.

LXW944 Series

As the top model of the 2022 LED line-up, you get the LXW944. At the same time, a 120 hertz screen joins the equipment range and, in addition to next-gen gaming, also enables enhanced motion handling with activated inter-screen calculation on the colourful IPS panel. As with the LXW834, local dimming provides the necessary additional contrast.

Film and series fans get an almost fully comprehensive package of formats that extends to HDR10+ Adaptive and Dolby Vision IQ. Only IMAX Enhanced is reserved for Panasonic’s premium TV range. In addition to the technical possibility of running game content with more than 60 frames at 4K resolution, VRR against so-called screen tearing is available via AMD Freesync Premium and an Auto Low Latency Mode to reduce the input time.

You can call up all relevant information about these functions at a glance via the Game Control Board. In this way, you have a complete overview and can always see which features are currently active. Using Auto AI, the TV recognises the incoming signal if necessary and automatically adjusts the picture settings according to the content.
