OLED Lineup

What characterises this product line? Within the 2022 line-up, you’ll be provided with several OLED models from Philips. The devices support numerous HDR formats and have connections as well as an IMAX Enhanced mode. The operation is based on Android TV. Gaming features such as VRR, low input lag, and fast response times make these televisions also interesting for avid console players.

Midrange TV

OLED707 Series

With the little brother of the OLED807, Philips offers an entry into the OLED area. The model features a range of technical functions that contribute to a better viewing experience. The company provides its so-called Deep Learning AI algorithm via the P5 Intelligent Picture Engine, which is intended to ensure the display of a lifelike image.

The OLED707 features a thin metal frame and dark, matte chrome stands that provide a stylish design. While the Dolby Atmos sound offers a solid experience, we recommend at least a soundbar solution, as usual.

A 3-sided Ambilight with integrated Hue function adapts the wall color to the displayed image content. Other functions include the game mode, a lounge mode, as well as AmbiWakeup and AmbiSleep. The native refresh rate of 120 hertz and other gaming features make this model a good choice for gamers.

Upper Midrange TV

OLED807 Series

The Philips OLED807 is the successor to the OLED806 and offers various improvements over its predecessor, making the TV an even more powerful Ambilight TV. In the model from the 2022 lineup, an OLED.EX panel is used for the first time below the high-end range, allowing the screen to achieve higher luminance.

The new image processing also places greater emphasis on automatic image adjustment to enjoy content even more optimally. However, you won’t find OLED.EX in all sizes, as the 48-inch version from Philips will be equipped with a conventional OLED panel and therefore won’t have the brightness advantages.

In addition to extensive features, which include a 120 Hertz panel, numerous connections, and support for HDR formats, you’ll also get an IMAX Enhanced mode for compatible content.

Based on Android TV version 11, you’ll navigate through an extensive menu structure and can control the TV via the backlit remote control, as well as via voice commands, as is common with modern TVs.

OLED937 Series

Looking at the design of the OLED937, you will immediately notice the 5.1.2 Bowers & Wilkins soundbar stand, covered in fabric, which provides an above-average audio playback. The up-firing speakers emit sound upwards, while the surround speakers send the sound through the room to create a three-dimensional sound experience.

The tweeter-on-top design ensures the necessary clarity for dialogues and vocals. You can also achieve additional connectivity with the help of DTS PlayFi for synchronous or asynchronous control of additional speakers.

Two processor units are responsible for processing the image material if needed. With HDMI 2.1, gamers can take advantage of the equipment of the next console generation with responsive gameplay and smooth 120 hertz graphics. The Ambilight gaming mode makes the action even more impressive. With extremely low latency, G-Sync, VRR, and FreeSync, you get a well-rounded gaming experience.

Common HDR formats, including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, are on board and, together with the OLED.EX panel, provide the necessary display brilliance. Through the Android OS, you can talk to the Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa to control not only the TV but also compatible smart home devices.

LED Lineup

What characterizes this product line? Background-lit models still play a role at Philips. The manufacturer has been using the so-called Mini-LED technology in this context since the past year. Compared to the conventional technology, tvs based on this basis offer different advantages in terms of contrast, precision, and screen illumination.

Premium TV

PML9507 Series

With the PML9507, Philips presents its top model based on Mini-LED technology, a TV that is suitable for brighter lighting conditions and daily use throughout the day. The significant advantages of this technology are a better contrast ratio and a clean representation of colors based on precise brightness control. Hundreds of intelligently illuminated zones can be dimmed and brightened independently on this model.

Based on HDMI 2.1 and other relevant features, you can optimize the next-gen functions of your consoles. The Philips P5 processor provides the necessary processing power. The equipment is rounded off by the exclusive Ambilight in a revised next-generation variant with a gaming mode.

Dolby Vision and other HDR formats support the good image performance with compatible sources. While the wireless Philips Home system with DTS Play-Fi quickly connects to compatible soundbars and wireless speakers to create a home entertainment system with surround sound using the Philips TV as the central speaker, Dolby Atmos support provides an immersive home theater experience. To get the most out of the audio format, a soundbar solution with a subwoofer is also recommended.

Android TV allows you to customize the home screen with your favorite apps. With the Google Assistant or Alexa-enabled devices, you can also control the TV and compatible smart home devices.

The One Performance

What characterizes this product line? The popular all-rounder, named “The One”, also receives some improvements this year. This includes, above all, the 120Hz panel, which will appeal to gamers who use the new consoles. In addition, the model will be available for the first time in an 86-inch version, making it the first Philips TV in this size.

Budget TV

PUS8507 Series

Philips has launched the PUS8507, a TV that is marketed as an all-in-one solution for end consumers. The addition of “The One” is meant to show that this TV offers everything you need for comprehensive use. However, this statement is not entirely accurate and cannot be fully achieved due to the relatively low purchase price. Nevertheless, there are some reasons to buy the backlit Ambilight TV with its IPS panel.

One of these is the high image quality combined with good viewing angle stability and very good color reproduction. This is particularly important when multiple people want to view the TV from different positions. The Ambilight system also provides pleasant and atmospheric lighting for the room.

However, you will have to make some sacrifices when it comes to the HDMI standard and, consequently, the refresh rate. In short, Philips only offers you four HDMI 2.0 interfaces with a maximum of 60 hertz with the PUS8507.

PUS8807 Series

Compared to the smaller 8507 series, the revamped model from the 8807 series has a bit more under the hood. You still get a color-rich and natural-looking picture with good viewing angles. The main difference is the panel. For the first time in the history of “The One” series, a screen with native 120 frames per second raises the equipment flag. In combination with this, you’ll find a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports in the TV’s connection area.

This means that Philips provides a relatively affordable entry into next-gen gaming. Considering the price, input lag and response time are also acceptable. Overall, the PUS8807 becomes a more than solid television with an attractive price.

However, you should be aware that the performance of devices from the higher shelves cannot be reproduced, and therefore you still have to make some compromises in some areas. But if you’re looking for a TV with a good price-performance ratio and can appreciate the mentioned features, you’ll be satisfied with the PUS8807.
