Samsung QLED Q60R The Samsung Q60R is the affordable entry model of the QLED series. It does without many features of the higher quality models: e.g. there is no local dimming and no particularly high brightness. Nevertheless, it has some practical extra features, such as Ambient Mode. Thanks to the VA panel it is well suited for dark rooms. If you want a true QLED display, however, this is the way to go. | Samsung RU8000 The Samsung RU8000 is not only visually very similar to the Q60R. The technical features are partly the same – but the RU8000 does not belong to the QLED series. The RU8000 has slightly less contrast and is not so well suited for sports. In all other aspects it is on a par with the more expensive Q60R, all the while it is not part of the QLED lineup. |

Our conclusion: "Real" QLED or UHD gaming TV?
Only after some research it becomes apparent that Samsung Q60R and Samsung RU8000 actually hardly differ from each other. Both have a VA panel, which enables good performance in dark rooms. In addition, they achieve very good values in gaming, as the input lag is extremely low. The picture quality is absolutely comparable, beginners won’t notice a great difference. But those who like to use their TV as a furnishing element will benefit from the atmospheric Ambient Mode of the Q60R.
