Although the Samsung Q60R belongs to the QLED series, it doesn’t have some decisive features that make up QLED TVs. For example, there is no Full Array Local Dimming, so the performance is good in dark rooms, but it is even better with the Q70R. Nevertheless, the Samsung Q60R is a TV that is aimed at newcomers to the 4K world and is particularly suitable for gaming.

Compared to the Q60R, the Samsung Q70R is almost the same or better in every aspect. It features a VA panel and Full Array Local Dimming, which provides deeper blacks. In addition, contrast and brightness are higher, which benefits HDR content. It’s also a fantastic choice for gaming. Compared to its little brother, the Q70R does better in bright rooms and, due to the lower black level, in dark rooms.

The choice between the Samsung Q60R and the Samsung Q70R is not easy. The surcharge isn’t worth it for everyone, so you should carefully consider your own needs.

The Samsung Q60R is an ideal device for newcomers to the world of 4K. If you only watch TV occasionally, like to stream movies or series and gamble from time to time, you’ll find what you’re looking for here at a small price.

However, if higher picture quality is desired and HDR content is important, the Q70R is the better choice. Thanks to the higher brightness and contrast, it looks much better in bright rooms. There is also Full Array Local Dimming, which favours performance in dark rooms. In gaming it’s at least as good.
