The Samsung Q70R is the most affordable “real” QLED. It has a VAVertical Alignment, type of LCD Panel panel that uses Full Array Local Dimming for deep black tones. In addition, contrast and brightness are sufficient to display HDRHigh Dynamic Range – image/video with more dynamic range (contrast range) content. It’s a fantastic choice for gaming, however, its big brother Q80R is better suited for wide viewing angles and bright rooms.

Attention. The Samsung Q70R is an older TV for which the database is not up to date. Therefore, the ratings may differ.

Our conclusion:
Affordable or sophisticated QLED?

A comparison between Samsung Q80R and Samsung Q70R is not easy. Despite the fact that the Samsung Q70R is a very good TV in almost all disciplines, the larger Q80R is a little better everywhere.

Both have Full Array Local Dimming, but the higher peak brightness means it can reproduce HDRHigh Dynamic Range – image/video with more dynamic range (contrast range) content more impressively. In addition, the Q80R’s performance is better in bright rooms, as it is well received against a lot of ambient light. When it comes to gaming, both deliver a comparable, very good performance, which is due to the input lag and VRRVariable Refresh Rate – synchronizes the display’s refresh rate with the output refresh rate of the graphics card through FreeSyncVariable Refresh Rate with AMD graphics cards or consoles.

In addition, the viewing angle is a bit wider, as the Samsung Q80R has an extra layer that allows this.
