Burn-In

This effect generally occurs when the same picture content is displayed on the panel for a very long period of time. This would require the TV to be exposed to thousands of hours of static and extremely bright content. In everyday use, however, the risk of burn-in nowadays is quite lower. Manufacturers now use a variety of maintenance functions such as an automatic pixel refresher, a pixel shifter or the so-called Automatic Brightness Limiter to counteract this.
